Week 13: My Georgia Peach!

Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (Much more convenient.)

Every week I can't wait for Saturday...it's a baby milestone that is so amazing to me. I can't imagine that there is a little, tiny baby inside of me growing into my little boy or girl. RJ and I can't stop thinking about our next ultrasound, between 18 and 20 weeks, when we get to find out if our baby is a Breanna or a Ryder. This whole experience is so awesome to us, and we're enjoying every moment of it.

We Saw Our Bean!!!

I had my NT Scan today, which went very well and the tech said everything looked normal. We have to wait a few days for the blood test results, but I'm very optimistic! Here is a picture of our little Breanna or Ryder! S/he looks so cute in there. We got a wave and there was some thumb-sucking going on...a very bad habit that I hope little B or R doesn't keep up after birth. lol. We even got a few tiny and cute stretches. RJ is so happy and excited and it was awesome to see the baby. I didn't know whether to laugh in excitement or cry because of how much water they made me drink beforehand and the thought of possibly peeing my pants on the table!

Week 12: Plum

I can't believe I'm 12 weeks! RJ is getting so excited for this baby. He told me yesterday that he was watching interviews of some of the passengers on that US Airways plane, and one guy said that all he could think about was going home to see his daughter...RJ started to cry. Then he hugged and kissed my belly. When I first found out I was pregnant, I was most worried about him because we had been planning on waiting and this baby was a huge surprise...he is so excited though! He talks about when the baby comes all the time, and it's just so darn cute!


As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed.

I thought that my morning sickness had gone away, but it's back in full force! String cheese is very helpful with this...so I bring like 3 sticks with me to school now! I have my first ultrasound on Tuesday, and RJ and I are sooo excited for it! It's going to be so awesome to see our little bean finally!

Week 11: Lime

Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through. But, fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

Isn't this little lime so cute??? Much nicer than a wrinkly old prune. I'm actually starting to pop and I'm a little confused at how early it is. My bloat went away about a week and a half ago, and I have a nice little rounding coming on. RJ loves it :-) We're not taking another picture until it gets bigger - I don't want to be a picture freak.

I just went through the lovely task of trying on every shirt I own to make sure I can still fit into it. More than a few things were too snug for comfort, and I start student teaching on Monday so I can't wear anything uncomfortable. I'm looking forward to spending my last day as an unemployed woman cleaning our apartment and putting our clothes and trip things away. Yay! lol

Week 10: Prune

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)

Although the comparison food for this week is a prune (yuck!) the baby is getting much bigger! I'm still having morning sickness (it's been here for over 5 weeks already), and I'm ready for it to stop! Most women don't even get it until the 6th or 7th week...why won't it go away?????
